Announcing Cycling Guide 2.0

Well, itās been longer than we intended between Cycling Guide releases and blog posts, but today weāre catching up. Cycling Guide 2.0 is now available for Android in the Google Play Store and iPhone in the App Store. This new release has many updates and fixes. Here are a few highlights:
- Cycling Guide now includes āTipsā, to help less-experienced cyclists learn more about cycling to support riding their bikes more often
- Voici de bonnes nouvelles! Cycling Guide soutient maintenant le franƧais canadien! (Cycling Guide now supports Canadian French. š)
- Thereās now more information on what the route colours mean ā and a periodic reminder to review them in case you forget!
- Searching for addresses and locations is now improved and more up-to-date
- Cycling Guide now uses a more consistent and legible typeface
- Tapping on a bike parking icon (blue square) on the map now reveals any available details about that bike parking
- After tapping the āStart Cyclingā button, thereās now a small dashboard that shows your current speed, distance travelled, and elapsed time while cycling
- Several small improvements to the UI to clarify what you can see in the app
- Several bugs have now been banished. Thatās worth celebrating too!
In addition, this release includes some under-the-hood updates that set us up for some exciting news to come regarding adding other cities to Cycling Guide! Weāll share more details about that later. For now, though, if youāre interested in trying the app in another city, weāre currently beta testing in Ottawa, ON, Sarnia-Lambton, ON, and Halifax, NS. Join the beta!
And happy cycling!
